Importance of not missing workouts; advice for staying motivated.

Ah, Saturday. Finally. It’s been a loooong work week, and I’m ready for a couple of days of rest and relaxation. This past week has been so busy that it has been tough to get all my workouts in. A couple of days in particular I found that it would have been very easy to make excuses and miss my workouts, but as soon as those thoughts enter my mind I shut them down by reminding myself that excuses don’t get me any closer to my goals – only hard work does. What’s really cool is that on the 2 days that I was really pushed for time and feeling a little bit tired, I actually had great workouts, and felt really good afterwards! I find that when I do something difficult and do it well, particularly if I don’t feel like doing it in the first place, there’s a greater sense of accomplishment afterwards. That sense of accomplishment provides me with a sustained mental boost through the rest of day: I feel productive and positive, when I might have otherwise felt tired and over-worked.

Today I feel less pressured for time, and I think I’m going to have another great workout. I’m hitting my pecs, delts and triceps, followed by a 12 or 15 minute HIIT cardio session. I’m going to go crank the music up and get started. Have a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow.
