Rough outline of my summer bulking strategy.

I’m still working on my new plan for the summer. Nothing is set in stone yet, but here are just some of the things I’ll be doing as I change my focus from fat loss to gaining lean mass:

  • Protein shakes before and after my weight training workouts.
  • No cardio on weight training days.
  • Increased calories. I’ll be slowly bumping my food intake and monitoring my progress. Today I’m going to take in about 2400 calories.
  • “Cheat” meals. I’m going to have something I normally would not eat 1 or 2 times per week. Today I’m having a pizza for dinner, for example. 🙂

I’m going to be monitoring my BF% very closely. I do not want to add any fat this summer. This is a learning experience for me. After summer is over, I think I will have a good feel for what I need to do to really start packing on the muscle. This fall and winter I’ll go 100% towards gaining lean mass, which of course also means gaining some fat, and that’s ok. I think maintaining my clean diet will help minimize any fat gain. In spring 2004 I will cut again and by summer 2004 I should be cut like I am now, but much more muscular. That’s the general plan.

As for the future of this site, I don’t know what I’m going to do at this time. I’m still thinking about it. I may just freeze this site within the next few days and start a new one since my focus has changed, or I may just keep updating this one. Not sure yet. I also have considered taking a brief hiatus from the daily updates, but I’m leaning away from that. Just kicking some ideas around. Your suggestions are welcome. 🙂

I just finished my protein shake and it’s time to lift! I’m off to work on my pecs, delts and triceps. Today is an important workout day, my pecs are seriously lagging and I need to hit them hard.
