Using the forum as an alternative to email: Redux; Much work to do.

Repeat from yesterday for those who did not see it: I just want to let everyone know that I’m still about 3 weeks behind on my emails and they continue to come in at an amazing rate. There’s no possible way I can answer them all, but I am reading each and every one of them. If you don’t receive a reply to your email, please don’t take it personally. I truly wish I had… [Read more]

Shoulder update; Forum doing great!

My shoulder is feeling good this morning, but I’m going to resist the temptation to lift and continue to rest it for another 3 weeks. I do not want to go back to the doctor, and I do not want to prolong this injury any more than I already have. With almost 1300 registered members and well over 5,500 posts in the first couple of weeks, the forums have proven to be a huge success!… [Read more]

Smoking.

Today I’m going to talk a bit about smoking. There are quite a few people out there trying to get in shape who still smoke. As a long-time, hard core smoker (2-3 packs a day for well over a decade), I know how hard it is to quit. When I crushed out my last cigarette a little over 3 years ago, the following months were some of the most difficult of my life. I won’t… [Read more]

Leg day; The many benefits of weight training.

My pager was silent all night long, so I had a restful night’s sleep last night for the first time this week. I’m going to need the energy because today’s leg day! My lower body workout is easily my most grueling. By the time I finish my lunges, which are the next-to-last exercise that I do, I can barely stand up. It’s important to make all of your weight training workouts extremely intense. When you… [Read more]

Running late…

No time to write this morning – sorry! I’m running late thanks to my pager going off all night, and I need to go get my workout in and then get to work (meetings today, my favorite). I’ll be on the forums later today, after work, so see ya then. Have a great day!

New recipes!

I’ve added a couple new recipes to the recipe section (further down on this page). These two favorites of mine have already been posted on the recipe forum, but I wanted to put them here on the main page as well. Our forum members have posted many more tasty and nutritious recipes on the forums, but you’ll need to register before you can see them. I’ve got another busy day ahead, so I’m going to… [Read more]

Post-Super Bowl bloat.

We had some guests over yesterday to watch the Super Bowl and I decided to have some pizza and some wine. Ugh, I’m feeling tired and bloated this morning (not enough sleep, +3.2 pounds), but I’m going to push through and go do my cardio (I really need it!) I’m running late and have a lot of work to do today, but I’ll catch up with everyone later on the forums. See you there!

How I take my measurements; “Buddy Stone”.

A lot of people ask me how I take my measurements. I take them all “cold” but flexed, which simply means that I flex the muscles I’m measuring, but I have not performed any exercises beforehand that would cause them to fill with blood (better known as “pumped”). When muscles are pumped, they are quite a bit larger compared to when they are cold; for example, my arms are about 1/2″ larger after a upper… [Read more]
