Help avoid plateaus – keep your body guessing.

When I used to do HIIT cardio exclusively, it got to the point where I would push myself as hard as I could but I’d hardly break a sweat until the final 5 minutes or so. I was in excellent cardio vascular shape, but doing the same thing every day is less than optimal when it comes to fat loss. Most of you already know that our bodies are extremely adept when it comes to adapting to exercise routines, and that’s a big part of the reason why we sometimes “plateau”. If you are trying to lose fat, then it’s very important to mix your cardio routines up – don’t do the same thing every workout! Switch your HIIT intervals, alternate aerobic-level cardio and HIIT cardio, do different exercises – be creative! The goal is to keep your body guessing and not give it a chance to adapt to what you are doing.

No cardio for me today, though. Today is leg day! Time to get started. I’ve got a difficult workout planned, and it is really gonna hurt…
