Ahhhhh. Air conditioning.

Being without power was not fun, but I’m lucky – some of my friends and co-workers still don’t have power. Of course some people suffered quite a bit of damage, so power issues are not that big of a deal compared to what many are going through. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to all who were in Frances’ path.

Aside from no electricity, we also had some water damage to the carpet in the computer room and some other minor damage. The wet carpet and the hot, humid air combined with no power for two days made for a very smelly, sauna-like home. Of course the dogs had to go out to use the bathroom a few times while it was raining, so the wet dogs made the smell that much worse. I took the day off work yesterday so that I could steam clean the carpets and clean the whole house. Now things are much, much better. I slept like a baby last night for the first time since Friday.

We were able to save all our chicken and steak because they stayed frozen longer than some of our other items. We moved the chicken and steak to Lisa’s parents’ house (their power never went out) when it was safe. We did lose all our fresh food and some frozen stuff like veggies and salmon. With no power and a limited amount of ice we could only keep things frozen for so long until it was safe to drive to Lisa’s parents’ house.

I postponed my back/bicep/traps workout yesterday so that I could get the cleaning and carpets done. I’ll be doing that workout right about now! See you tomorrow…
