January 2005 will soon be coming to a close and, statistically speaking, many of those who started working out and getting healthy at the beginning of the year are already starting to slack off and make excuses. Once you start rationalizing your failure to stay committed with excuses, quitting is never far behind. Don’t let this happen to you! Keep at it, and work harder than ever. Excuses are not going to matter one bit when you are still too embarrassed to take off your shirt or put on a bikini this summer. Imagine how proud you’ll be in a few short months if you stick to your plan and reach your goals. Think of the look on your friends and family’s faces when they see what you’ve accomplished. While you may have people in your corner that genuinely want you to succeed, the ugly truth is that there are a lot of people who are also secretly hoping you’ll fail. Misery loves company. Think about that the next time you want to give up. Don’t give those negative people the perverse satisfaction of seeing you give up – prove them wrong by showing them that you are stronger than they think. Maybe by reaching your goals those people who doubted you will become inspired enough to improve their lives and self-esteem, too. That’s a heck of a nice bonus, don’t you think?
