Back from vacation: postmortem.

After a relaxing two-week vacation from my usual life, today I return to my regular schedule. I feel like I’ve been away forever! My normal day-to-day life is so busy that each day of my vacation seemed twice as long. Thankfully Lisa and I were able to relax and enjoy our time together with very few interruptions from our work. I feel very rested and recharged this morning, and ready to get back to “normal”.

I’m proud to report that I did not miss a single day of cardio! I did my normal cardio every single morning of my vacation. It was tempting to skip, but I knew I needed to get it done. I was only able to weight train once last week (Monday), so I’ll just look at last week as my normally scheduled week off from weight training (I think I was overdue, anyway).

As for my diet, that was a mixed bag. The first week of my vacation I ate very well, and pretty much stayed on my normal dietary plan. The second week? Eh, not so good. 🙂 I ate out a lot last week, and made no effort to choose healthy items: Hamburgers, french fries, country fried steak, gravy, BBQ, baked beans, garlic bread, pizza, queso & tortilla chips, fajitas, ice cream, chips, butter popcorn, soda… I also drank quite a bit of alcohol: wine, beer, Grey Goose Vodka (my favorite) and Tequila.

I think my cardio saved me: this morning I only weigh 3 pounds more than the lowest I’ve weighed on this cutting cycle, and my measurements are all identical. It looks like I didn’t lose any muscle, and I put on very little (if any) fat. As you can imagine, I’m holding some water this morning, so by Wednesday or Thursday I should be pretty much back to where I was. I’ll be maintaining a strict SGX cutting diet for the rest of June, and then I’m done cutting for this year.

As you may have guessed, I’ve had a tremendous amount of work pile up in my absence. I quickly checked the forum a couple of times last night and all seems well, but there may be a few issues that still need to be resolved. It’s going to take me a few days to get caught up, so please bear with me.

Thanks for visiting – it’s great to be back!
