Fun day yesterday; Record bloat; Today’s back workout.

We had a lot of fun yesterday hanging out, eating, drinking and watching the Daytona 500. Actually, we didn’t really watch the race until the final 10 laps. I don’t follow or even particularly like NASCAR; the race was more an an excuse to have a fun get-together.

As planned, we had pork barbecue for dinner last night and it was incredibly good. After eating so clean all week the high salt content of the cheat meal shocked the heck out of my system; I’m holding 5 pounds of extra water this morning! I think that’s a record for me. Heck, I didn’t even have any cheese and crackers or desert – just the barbecue dinner.

As good as the cheat meal was, today I’m happy to be back on my regular diet. I was still pretty full this morning (or maybe it was just bloat), so I skipped my normal breakfast of egg whites, natural peanut butter & grapefruit, and just had a protein shake instead.

My legs are still pretty sore from Thursday’s workout, but they are recovered enough to allow me to deadlift today. I’m anxious to see how much weight and how many reps I can manage. I feel like my strength is coming back pretty quickly, and deadlifts are such a big exercise that they are a nice benchmark for overall strength progress.
