As of this morning I’m far enough along in the new server/new software project to project a date for deployment. If things go really well today, then it could happen as early as tomorrow. I’m not going to rush it, though, so if I feel I need a little more time to polish and test, then I’ll take it. If it doesn’t happen tomorrow, then I’d say there’s a 95% chance it’s going to happen on Thursday. Keep in mind that there will be significant downtime while everything is changed over. I plan to start the process very early (like 5:00 AM), so hopefully by mid-day on the day of deployment we’ll be back up and running on the new hardware and new software.

Yesterday a forum member commented that some of my daily updates recently have been just a tad on the technical side, and I may have inadvertently scared some people about the upcoming changes. I’m very sorry about that, and I’m probably guilty as charged! Please read my response here, and always feel free to voice any comments and/or concerns about the upgrades in the new hardware/software discussion thread.

I promise, these changes are going to benefit this community a great deal, and the learning curve for the new forum features is not at all steep – everything is very intuitive and easy learn. Most of you will pick up everything without even needing to read the documentation (documentation will, of course, be made available). Further, the new hardware will provide a much faster and more enjoyable experience, and will allow for a considerable growth and increased reliability/uptime.

I’m going to get cracking on finishing this project up – wish me luck! 🙂
