A few bugs in the new forum software/server configuration have been unearthed over the last 36 hours, but nothing too major.
Probably the most serious issue is that hotmail and yahoo seemed to be silently dropping emails from the new server. The frustrating thing is that their mail servers were accepting the mail, and then just dropping them. I think I figured out what the problem was and have corrected it (the SMTP server is multi-homed and was sending emails from one an IP addresses that didn’t match the name of the server). I’ve re-sent all registration emails that are still pending and they should get through now.
Another issue a few users have been having is that they are getting a “You must wait 10 seconds between searches” error even though it has been much longer than that since their last search. This is mainly happening when the “New Posts” or “Today’s Posts” quicklinks are used. It seems this is only happening to a very few users (I personally can’t duplicate the problem), but I’ve opened a support ticket and hope to have a resolution quickly.
Considering the massive scope of the recent upgrades, this is a pretty short punchlist. I’m very happy about that.
I should have an exciting new forum feature or two ready to roll out sometime this week, so keep your eyes open for those announcements.
OK, I’m running very behind this morning and I’ve got a lot of work to do today. Thanks again for all the great feedback on the recent upgrades!
