Cheat meal AND missed my leg workout.

Well, yesterday turned out to be a really fun and exciting day, but not so great from a fitness standpoint. Turns out Lisa’s new car was ready a day early, so we picked it up from the dealership and then drove around, oohing and ahhing over all the insanely cool new technology and toys. We were having so much fun that I missed my leg workout. Not only that, Lisa and I decided to go to our favorite Mexican food restaurant to celebrate our 14 year wedding anniversary.

It’s funny because I remember last year feeling really guilty about breaking my diet for some Mexican food. You know what? I still reached my goal of 6% body fat, and the world did not stop turning. I learned a valuable lesson last year, and I’m glad that the lesson has stuck with me. I don’t feel one bit of guilt over what happened yesterday. Yeah, I know my aim was to go through this entire cut without any cheat meals. While that’s not the way it worked out, I’ve still been remarkably consistent: over the past two months I’ve had exactly two meals that were deviations from my planned diet. I have nothing to be ashamed of.

What I do have is BLOAT! Man, I am a water balloon this morning – 5 pounds of water weight gain overnight! My body is just not used to all that salt.

Well, I hope this update has not demotivated anyone. I wish I could sit here and truthfully say that I’m always 100% consistent and glorious beacon of golden light, but that would be a load of crap. Besides, I don’t have to be perfect to reach my goals. I’m just a guy who used to be really fat and really out of shape, and now I’m not. I did it with hard work and consistency, but perfection was never part of the equation.
