Yesterday’s trip to Costco for my most of my 2008 bulking proteins was very successful – perhaps a little too successful. My shopping list was already pretty crazy, but I wound up buying even more than I’d planned to. The only things I couldn’t get at Costco were the 96% lean ground beef and the brown rice. Lisa can get those things at our local grocery store, so we’ll just purchase them weekly. Other than that, I’m all set for my bulk!

I completely filled the big freezer in the garage with 70 pounds boneless/skinless chicken breasts, 10 pounds chicken thighs (for Lisa), 10 pounds Orange Roughy fish, 21 pounds eye of round steak, 10 pounds large peeled/de-veined shrimp, 15 pounds wild Sockeye Salmon, 12 pounds sirloin burgers and 8 pounds turkey burgers. Don’t worry, I’ll eat it all, I promise.

I also stocked up on oats, natural peanut butter and olive oil.

I’m very excited about this bulk. While I don’t think I’ve been lazy over the past year, as most of you know there have been a whole lot of distractions, changes and other priorities in my life during this time. I don’t regret any of the choices I’ve made and, despite all the distractions, I’ve managed to stay in pretty decent shape. Still, my physique is unquestionably showing the effects of a year out of focus. My upcoming bulk represents a time for me to make fitness and weight training a priority once again, and I’m very fired up about that prospect. Over the next month the anticipation is going to continue to build, and on September 29th I’m going to fire out of the gates with laser-like focus.

Today, however, I’m going to watch movies and eat popcorn, candy and hamburgers with my family. Have a great day!
