I seem to be doing a good job of maintaining. My scale weight has remained between 204 and 205 pounds, my waist measurement has not changed at all and – best of all – my strength continues to increase with each workout. I am going to take a 7-point body fat caliper reading this weekend and see how that looks. I suspect it’s going to be the same as it was when I started maintaining a few weeks ago, but it’s best to be sure.
It’s been nice to relax a bit: I’m not counting calories, I’m not tracking my food intake and I’m not pre-planning my workouts. Basically I’m letting intuition be my guide in the kitchen and in the gym. After over six years of careful tracking and planning, I guess shouldn’t be surprised by how honed my instincts are. I do believe that tracking of calories and workouts is extremely important in many circumstances (cutting, bulking, new training program, new dietary approach, first starting out, etc.), but it’s not always necessary. I guess I’m just learning that for myself now.
The design of this site is really starting to grind on my nerves. The re-design is going to be a huge project, but I need to make it a priority. With money being an issue, and my job situation still up in the air, I think this is a project I’m going to have to attempt to tackle myself. Of course I’m a network and Linux/Unix administrator, and not a web developer. While I do have some experience with web development (and I’m not a bad PHP programmer), I’m going to have my work cut out for me. We shall see how it goes…
OK, I need to get to work. Happy Friday!
