37.71 mile bike ride to Big Tree park: stories and pictures (video to come!)

Yesterday was awesome! The weather was perfect, and Lisa and I set off on our longest and most exciting bike adventure yet – almost 38 miles! We started off at the Prado trailhead on the Seminole-Wekiva trail, which is where we normally start that trail, but we did not complete the entire trail – we had other plans! At around the 9.5 mile mark there is a magnificent pedestrian overpass that connects the Seminole-Wekiva trail… [Read more]

Riding today; JSF BodyShop™ update; Video of Loki.

This is the day I’ve been patiently waiting for all week long! It’s a cool 51 degrees outside, the winds are calm and the skies are sunny and clear. This is textbook weather to be out exploring Florida on a bike! Lisa and I have an idea of where we’re going to go ride, but are not 100% decided yet. I expect we’re going to do between 30 and 35 miles, and we hope to… [Read more]

Weekend plans.

I’ve got all this leftover turkey and NO BREAD in the house. Noooooooo! Neither Lisa or I eat bread very often, but there’s nothing better than turkey breast sandwiches with tons of freshly ground black pepper! Guess what’s on the shopping list for today? Oh man, I can’t wait! I still haven’t had time to sit down with Lisa and go through all the Thanksgiving pictures. I don’t even know if I’m going to have… [Read more]

Awesome day yesterday; The weather is incredible.

We had a fantastic Thanksgiving celebration yesterday! All the food came out perfectly cooked and I successfully managed to synchronize the completion of all the dishes. We ate a lot, but none of us ate to the point of discomfort. The atmosphere was laid back and fun. We raised our glasses to Turtle, who we all still miss very much – particularly on what I’m pretty sure was her favorite day of the year! I… [Read more]

Thanksgiving day.

Happy Thanksgiving! When I woke up this morning warm in my bed lying next to my beautiful wife and faithful mutt, I smiled and thought about how incredibly fortunate I am. The difficulties I’ve experienced over the past year seem rather insignificant when placed in perspective. I have so much to be thankful for, and Thanksgiving always serves as reminder of that fact. Today I’ll be making a traditional Thanksgiving feast for the family: Roast… [Read more]

Bad workout yesterday; Today’s plans. Great weekend weather ahead.

Not such a great day yesterday. I had a long and fairly stressful day at work followed by a very mediocre chest and triceps workout. I just couldn’t seem to get my act together in the gym. I hate it when that happens, but occasionally having a bad workout is part of the game. I think today will be better. Work should not be as crazy because I think I lot of people are going… [Read more]

Thoughts on my upcoming cut; JSF BodyShop™ news; JSF poker tourney info.

As much as I’ve enjoyed my more balanced approach to diet and training over the past few months, I’m actually finding myself pretty excited about my upcoming cutting phase (which starts Monday, January 4, 2010). I think the strictness of a planned cut will be good for me in a lot of ways. When I have a goal to reach the whole “balance” thing simply doesn’t apply; I just don’t work that way. The past… [Read more]

VholdR vs GoPro: Follow up thoughts and the winner.

On Saturday I posted pictures, video and my thoughts on the GoPro HD HERO camera, and then on Sunday I did the same with the VholdR Contour HD 1080p. Deciding which one to keep has turned out to be a very difficult choice for me. First of all, I need to follow up on a couple of things I wrote with some new information… One of my biggest complaints with the GoPro unit was that… [Read more]

VholdR Contour HD 1080p: Initial thoughts, pictures and video.

Yesterday morning I had my usual weekly meeting with the developer of the JSF BodyShop™ software. After another very productive week of work, I’m pleased to report that the “to do” list before we can launch the closed beta is growing very short. Right now we’ve put a freeze on adding new features for the initial release of the software, but we’ve already got quite a list going for the next version! We expect development… [Read more]

GoPro HD Helmet HERO: Initial thoughts, pictures and video.

I’ve got a busy morning ahead, but my afternoon should be more or less free. As soon as I finish posting this update I’m going to go with Lisa to the grocery store to help out. It’s going to be a big shopping day because I’m making Thanksgiving dinner for everyone this Thursday. Also this morning I’ve got my usual weekly meeting with the lead developer of JSF BodyShop™. I can’t wait to see what’s… [Read more]
