Yesterday was a cardio only day, and I decided to do another LISS session on the recumbent bike. It was a 45-minute workout and I did 11.4 miles with an average heart rate of 153 BPM. I felt fantastic the entire ride, and really enjoyed it.

I’m not sure why I’ve been doing so much LISS cardio lately, but that’s what I’ve been in the mood for. I will definitely be doing some HIIT this weekend. If the rain stays away I’ll be hitting the trails for sure.

I want to talk about JSF BodyShop™ for a bit now. Yesterday I indicated that I was probably going to post some all-new screenshots of the site (the old screenshots in the BodyShop information thread look nothing like the current site), but I’ve decided to hold off on those until Monday morning. There is still some tweaking to the default skin (or “theme”, as it’s called on BodyShop) that I’d like to accomplish over the weekend when I have a bit more free time available.

Speaking of time, Matt and I really are using practically every spare minute outside of our regular jobs and training focused on the BodyShop project. We stayed up late again last night working together, and we made an incredible amount of progress. The integrated chat system in BodyShop is really awesome, and we used it extensively while working together last night. The only problem with BodyShop’s instant chat system is (was) that sometimes one of us would be off working in another application when the other would send a message and the communication would go unnoticed for a time. I said to Matt, “It would be really cool if you could code in an audible alert or something so that if someone instant messages a user while BodyShop web site is open, but not in the foreground, he or she would still know about it instantly. 10 minutes later I was off working in Photoshop when a heard a strange new soft chime! 😆

… and that’s about the pace at which new features have been added, or existing features have been enhanced. Over the past few months I’ve had so dozens of crazy new feature ideas that I thought would never fly, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard the word “No” come out of Matt’s mouth. I know you guys are going to be really impressed with the capabilities of the software. Over the past few weeks I’ve been using JSF BodyShop™ “real world” to assist me in planning and tracking my 2010 cutting progress, and I can honestly say it is helping me stay motivated and on track. Entering my meal plans is fast, easy and fun (especially once I added my most used food items to my “favorites” list), and the detailed macronutrient information (automatically computed, of course) makes adjustments and experimenting super easy.

I’m just scratching the surface here, I literally go on for hours. I’ve used Fitday, BodySpace, Daily Burn and other sites like those, and none of those web sites can do everything JSF BodyShop™ does – not even close. I think the screenshots on Monday along with a bit of descriptive text will give you all a good idea of what this software can do for you.

Just as a reminder, we’re still on track to launch the closed beta (for JSF Forum Bronze and higher members) on Monday, January 25, 2010. This date is subject to change, of course, but at this time we think there’s a good chance we’ll be ready by then. Remember, once the beta program ends JSF BodyShop™ will be free for everyone!

AtLarge Nutrition surprised me this morning with some fantastic news: they are now holding a very brief 15% OFF SALE! You’re going to have to be quick, as the sale ends on Monday, January 18, 2010. As always, the 15% off includes the price of shipping, so this is a great chance to stock up on all your favorite AtLarge products, and check out some that you may have been thinking about trying. Personally I’m a big fan of Nitrean (I use this every single day), their Novus protein bars, RESULTS™ (I used RESULTS all during my 2008 bulk) and ETS.
