Yesterday marked the beginning of week #3 of my 2010 cut, and also the start of another week of “intensity” workouts. The intensity workouts I’ve been doing on this cut are extremely demanding and very high volume, but I really enjoy them. I always feel like I’m in my element when I’m doing high volume, fast paced training. I guess I enjoy the challenge.

Yesterday was leg day, and my workout was the crazy 320 rep leg workout from the old SGX cutting program. I increased the weight on every single exercise, and somehow still managed to perform all 320 reps. It was my best workout of the month thus far. If you’d like to give this leg workout a try, here it is:

4×20 Leg extensions
4×20 Lying leg curls
4×20 Squats
4×20 1-Leg DB calf extensions

It’s important to note that this workout requires two things to be effective: 1) You must use enough weight so that you can barely get the last few reps up, and 2) Keep the rest intervals very short – just 60 seconds between sets, 2 minutes between exercises.

There’s an incredible feeling I get after completing a hard leg workout that I can’t quite duplicate with any other workout. The feeling is an odd mixture of complete euphoria and wanting to puke all at the same time. I’m not sure why the euphoric feeling is so strong after a leg workout. Maybe it’s because the legs are such a large group of muscles that the endorphin release is amplified? I guess I don’t really care, all I need to know is that I absolutely LOVE it!

I want to thank everyone who took the time to comment on the all-new JSF BodyShop™ screenshots that I posted yesterday. If you didn’t see the screenshots (or did see them and didn’t comment), I urge you to take a few seconds to give us your thoughts! Matt and I are very passionate about this project, and our goal is to make BodyShop the best site of its kind on the Internet. Your feedback is very valuable to us as we pursue that lofty goal.

Today is a cardio-only day, and with the ol’ wheels feeling more like limp noodles than legs I don’t think HIIT is in the cards. I’m going wrap this up and get another 45-minute LISS session in before work. Train hard, and never stop thinking about your goals! Thanks for stopping by.
