Stitches out today; Mouth is still hurting a lot; Speed run footage.

I’m still having trouble eating solid food because chewing is still extremely painful. The outside of my lip seems to be healing just fine, but the wounds on the inside of my mouth are still swollen and hard, and they are interfering with my ability to open and close my mouth. The biggest problem is that one of my lower teeth is “irregular”, and slightly sticks out towards the front of my mouth at an angle; this is the same tooth on which my inner lower lip was impaled in the accident. Every time I move my mouth this annoying tooth painfully rubs up against the wound. It’s driving me crazy!

This morning I’m going to see my regular doctor to have the stitches removed, and I am going to ask him to take a look at the wounds inside my mouth. I don’t know what the answer is, but at this point I don’t care if they want to pull the damned tooth! I’m sick of being in constant pain, and not being able to eat solid food is making me insane. Thank goodness I didn’t break my jaw!

Yesterday my total calories were about the same as they have been this whole week, but it was a non-training day so I felt OK energy-wise. Today is my back/traps/biceps workout, and this morning I made the difficult choice to take the day off and let my body continue to recover. I’m not doing myself any favors by putting additional strain on my body right now. I’m still pretty banged up, and I need to rest, eat and let my body do it’s thing. I think if I do these things by Monday I’ll be feeling 100% better.

The accident footage kind of overshadowed what was an otherwise awesome day of riding. Last night I posted some footage from a pretty decent speed run that I made shortly before the ill-fated faceplant run. The goal of this run was to push the pace and get a great HIIT cardio workout in! I was not wearing a heart rate monitor, but I guarantee when I finished my heart rate was somewhere around 190 BPM (my maximum HR is 193 BPM). Oh, also this past Sunday Lisa and I rode some trails that I’ve never posted footage of before. The trails in question are not particularly well-maintained, and are a bit muddy and overgrown. The main attractions for us are a couple of dilapidated boardwalks that run through the forest. The forest is literally growing into the boardwalk in many spots; it’s still passable by bike, but there are a few places that will soon be swallowed by nature. It’s a fun ride. I’ll get some footage edited and posted tonight or this weekend.
