Beating back the cravings; JSF BodyShop™ beta testing going well!

Oh, man… I was having some serious cravings for junk food last night! It took every ounce of resolve and willpower I could muster to not call Lisa and say, “Pick up some pork barbecue dinners on your way home from work – double fries for me!” Normally I’m pretty good at ignoring cravings, but last night the desire was so strong that I was having a difficult time getting it out of my head.

Of course I didn’t make that call to Lisa, and I did not go off my planned diet. I’m almost 5 weeks into my cut, and I have been making excellent progress. There’s no way I’m going to lose the momentum I’ve built by going off my planned diet. Some people can have a chat meal once a week when they are cutting and be just fine, but that’s just not me. If I’d given in last night it would have had the opposite effect of satisfying my craving: it would make me crave cheat meals even more. I know myself well enough to avoid that trap.

I think it’s important to be honest with yourself when you’re trying to reach a goal. There’s no question that a single cheat meal isn’t going to derail an entire week of clean eating, but what is that meal going to do to you mentally? Are you really going to stick to just one cheat meal a week? If so, then great! Enjoy it! If you’re anything like me, however, eating a weekly meal just makes the cravings stronger. Those cheat meals just take my head out of the game, and they make it tougher to stick to my diet plan the rest of the week. I am very much an “all or nothing” dieter.

Tomorrow is the end of week five in my 2010 cut. I’m making excellent progress so far: my scale weight is down 12.6 pounds as of this morning, and I’m very anxious to check my body fat level and my measurements tomorrow morning! It feels great to be well on my way back down to 8% body fat.

I want to thank all the JSF BodyShop™ beta testers for a fantastic first week! This week the beta testers reported 38 bugs, and I’m happy to say that as of this morning 35 of those 38 bugs have been resolved. The remaining three bugs are very minor, and are being worked on.

If you are a BodyShop beta tester, we’d like to hear your feedback on the current set of themes. Matt has created a poll in the BodyShop support forums. Please take a couple minutes to answer the poll and add your thoughts to the thread. Don’t be shy, we want your honest thoughts.

JSF BodyShop™ beta testing is now underway! All Bronze or higher JSF supporting members are invited to participate in the closed beta. If you are a Bronze or higher supporting member, you should have already received your beta invite package by email. If you have not yet received your beta invitation, then please contact support with your forum username and we’ll resend the package to you. Also, if you upgrade your account to Bronze or higher at any point during the beta, your beta invite package will be sent to you within a few hours of upgrading. Please contact support if you don’t receive it for some reason.
