Excellent leg workout; Fear of another injury is messing with my head.

Excellent leg workout yesterday! I was really itching to get in the gym, so I worked out earlier than I normally do. I had plenty of energy and increased the weight for the first time since my accident about a month ago. My strength is still not back to where it was, but it’s coming back.

It’s tough for me to admit it, but that bike wreck messed with my mind. I want to get back out on the trails, but part of me is feeling apprehensive. Mountain biking is a lot like lifting weights in at least one respect: fear will get you hurt. It’s not the physical pain that scares me, it’s the thought of not being able to train, or type or drive or any of the other dozens of things I do everyday and take for granted. My injury could have been a lot worse that it was; I mean, I could very easily be sitting here right now missing half my teeth with my jaw wired shut. That’s a thought I’m having trouble getting past. Maybe the answer is just getting back out there and doing it?

Speaking of bikes, today is a cardio-only day. It’s going to be a rainy, so I think I’m going to get in 45 minutes of LISS cardio on the recumbent bike.

Have a good day!
