Dreamed of pizza last night, didn’t enjoy it.

I often have very vivid dreams, and I remember almost all of them. Sometimes the dreams are pretty disturbing, even nightmare-ish, but I’m rarely bothered by them. I kind of like waking up from something horrible and then quickly realizing that it was all a dream. I think part of the reason I don’t mind nightmares is because they put things in perspective; when I wake up I feel relief, and my problems don’t seem so bad.

So last night I had a really weird dream. Not at all a nightmare, but something that upset me nonetheless. You guys are going to laugh. I dreamed that I ordered a pizza, ate it, and didn’t really enjoy it. The dream seemed to go on forever, too. I ordered the pizza and when it arrived it was undercooked. So I put the pizza in the over to finish cooking it and I accidentally burnt part of it. I started picking the edible parts off of the pie, and then I scalded the top of my mouth on the first bite. Lisa came home at some point and wanted some, too, but there was not that much left. So we tried to divide it up but it was a mess. And on, and on and on…

When I woke up from this dream, my first thought was, “Dude, I can’t believe you broke almost eight weeks of sticking to your diet for some crappy pizza you didn’t even enjoy!” It took me a few moments to realize it was all a dream, and then I felt a huge amount of relief. The funny thing about this dream is I got to experience how I would feel if I actually had broken my diet. I didn’t like how I felt at all, and so this stupid dream has actually served to strengthen my resolve as I head into the final 5-6 weeks of my cut.

So that’s my rambling, stream of consciousness Friday update. 🙂
