Weekly progress report; It’s official, I’m plateaued.

Week #8 of my 2010 cut is over and, despite a very solid effort on my part, I am officially stalled. Let’s take a look at this week’s numbers…

My scale weight this morning is 190.8 pounds, which means I’ve lost .20 pounds over the past week, and a total of 15.6 pounds since the start of my cut.

My body fat reading this morning is 11.2% (as measured by the Fat Track PRO Digital Body Fat Calipers). That’s identical to last week’s reading of 11.2%, and a 4.3% drop from my 2010 cut starting body fat percentage of 15.5%.

Going strictly by the book, over the past week I’ve lost .02 pounds of fat and .18 pounds of lean mass. Clearly the .20 pounds of total body weight loss over the past week is insignificant, so the lean mass/fat loss numbers don’t mean much (they are well inside the measurement margin of error).

My total losses since the start of my cut now stand at 10.62 pounds of fat, and 4.98 pounds of lean mass.

My tape measurements (as measured by the MyoTape) back up the above data, and show no change since last Sunday. My 2010 cut total measurement changes are as follows: 2.75 inches off my waist, 2.25 inches from my hips, 1.5 inches from my thighs and a half-inch from my chest.

While I’m certainly disappointed that there was no discernible fat loss progress this week, I’m far from discouraged. As I mentioned a couple days ago, plateaus while cutting body fat are perfectly normal. Getting frustrated just makes things more difficult and takes your head out of the game. I’m going to continue on-plan this week and I’ll bet by next Sunday I’ll see some great progress. If I don’t see progress by next Sunday, I’ll make some adjustments to my diet and training to get things moving along again.
