Supersets, Giant sets, Drop sets; What’s wrong with my lip?

I had another excellent workout (pecs/delts/triceps) yesterday afternoon. I think that week off did far more for me than just allow those couple minor injuries to heal; I feel completely recharged – both mentally and physically. I find myself looking forward to my workouts, and my intensity in the gym is noticeably higher than it’s been in recent weeks.

It’s become increasingly rare for me to simply do “standard” sets. Lately for my intensity workouts I’ve been doing giant sets, supersets and drop sets almost exclusively. For example, yesterday I did flat barbell bench press supersetted with cable crossovers, tricep rope pressdowns supersetted with DB extensions, “down the rack” (basically 5x drop sets) DB lateral raises, Arnold presses supersetted with bent over DB laterals and so on… I really enjoy the extra challenge that this style of training brings, I love taking my muscles to complete failure and the cardio aspect is great for burning calories.

So something is still wrong with my injured lip. It’s been more than two months since my mountain biking faceplant, the lip has healed and there’s a nice scar now. I expected all of that. But there’s still some weird pain right at the top of my lower lip where it was partially severed. Just sitting here I don’t feel any pain, but even the lightest tap to that area is really painful. Like, if I just take my finger and lightly tap it, it hurts a lot. I have no idea what could be wrong. I think I’m going to have to go see my doctor about it, because this not something I can live with. Last night when I was flossing I hit it with my knuckle and winced in pain. Anyone have an idea what might be going on here?

Today’s a cardio day, and I think I’m going to get a 45-minute LISS session in before work. Today’s going to be a very busy work day, and I doubt I’ll have time to break away this afternoon for a HIIT workout.

Hope you have a great day!
