I woke up this morning at 6:00 AM sharp feeling absolutely fantastic! Well, technically speaking Loki woke me up at 6:00 AM sharp with a barrage of kisses, but that’s a pretty good way to start the day in my book. I grabbed that old boy and wrestled with him for a minute or two, trying not to wake Lisa. It’s hard to believe Loki is 15 years old. He still thinks he’s a puppy, and I love that. I can relate; the calendar says I’m 41 years old, but I still feel like I’m 21.

A big part of the reason I’m in such a good mood this morning is because my workouts over the past week have been awesome. Yesterday when I finished my back and biceps workout I was tired, but I felt absolutely euphoric. The endorphin rush after a hard workout, especially a “big” workout like legs or back, is indescribable. As I walked out of the gym I thought to myself, “I feel bad for people who don’t know what this feels like.”

Getting started is always the hardest part for people who are fat, unhealthy and out of shape. Some people say, “Start small, make little changes here and there.” While this approach may work for some, I think that for most beginners that’s a sure-fire recipe for failure. How many times have you pussy-footed around with trying to get in shape, only to fail? If you want to make big changes then you’ve got to go all out! Make health and fitness a priority in your life so you can experience the full impact of just how much it will change your life. The difference will be night and day, and THAT is what’s going to motivate you to keep going! My suggestion? Eliminate alcohol, eat 100% clean, natural foods, train with weights and do cardio. Force yourself to be disciplined and don’t make excuses. It will be hard at first, but before long you’ll start to notice some significant changes. You’ll feel far more positive, you’ll be more energetic, pound after pound of fat will melt away and your muscles will become fuller and more defined. This is what is going to keep you motivated to continue and never go back to the unhealthy lifestyle you once lived.

I’m 100% convinced that if I’d half-assed it back in 2003 I would have dropped a few pounds and gone right back to my old lifestyle. If you’ve tried and failed, then maybe it’s time for a new approach. Commit yourself 100% for the next 4 weeks, then send me an email and let me know how you’re feeling.
