Negativity, depression, anxiety? Here’s my take & how I took charge of my health.

The stormy weather we were experiencing in my neck of the woods yesterday morning gave way to bright, sunny skies just in time for my leg workout! I was able to take part of my workout outdoors after all, and I really enjoyed it. Every workout since my week off from training has been outstanding. Good workouts always put me in a terrific mood, and so it’s no surprise that I’m feeling especially positive and upbeat right now.

Everyone knows people who are always in a bad mood, are constantly complaining about anything and everything and are just generally negative. Those kinds of people are no fun to be around, and more or less send out the “get away from me” vibe all the time. I know that when I was one of those people I was not very happy with myself, and I projected that unhappiness onto everyone around me. Now, of the people you know who you consider to be “negative”, how many of them workout regularly and eat healthy? Probably none of them. This is not a coincidence. Working out and eating right makes you feel good about yourself. When you feel good about yourself, you want to make the people around you feel good, too, and it really shows.

I think most (not all, there are exceptions) people who suffer from depression, anxiety and basically just don’t enjoy life could solve their problems by avoiding alcohol, working out on a regular basis and eating clean, healthy foods. I remember back in the early 2000s (before my transformation) my doctor put me on Prozac. What a joke. I didn’t need that crap. What I really needed was to get off my fat ass and start living a healthy lifestyle. But don’t expect your doctor to tell you that, he or she would rather write you a prescription, take the kickback from big pharma and go golfing. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that it’s up to each of us to to take responsibility for our own health and well-being. I’m speaking from firsthand experience.

Today’s a cardio day, and I’m still undecided on LISS or HIIT for today’s workout. I’m leaning towards LISS right now, but time may be an issue.
