Had to force myself to train yesterday, glad I did!; Loki update.

Yesterday morning when I woke up I felt like I was pretty well caught up on my sleep (the night prior I barely slept). As the day wore on I could tell that I was still not fully recharged, and by the time my workout rolled around I was actually feeling quite lazy. I briefly considered skipping the workout, but I figured I might as well get in the gym and try to push through the lethargy. Sure enough, just a couple of sets into my workout I caught a second wind and began to feel really good. I managed to improve over last week’s workout on every single exercise, and by the time I finished training I felt very satisfied for not blowing off my workout.

I can’t tell you guys the number of times a scenario like I just described has played out in the exact same way. The hardest part is not the actual workout; it’s having the mental discipline to force yourself to get in the gym when you don’t feel like training. I’d say that 9 out of 10 times when I make myself train when I don’t feel like doing it I wind up having a good – or even a great – workout. In fact, some of my best workouts have taken place under those conditions.

Loki update (thanks to those of you who asked about him!): he tolerated the new antibiotic dose/schedule with no ill effects! I’m so relieved. Seeing Loki in pain just kills me. So he’ll take the antibiotics for another 5 days, then we’ll take him back to the vet for a follow-up. Hopefully this will clear up his UTI once and for all.

The weather is amazing here this morning. Perfect timing, as today is a cardio day. I’m going to lace up and go for a bike ride before work. See you tomorrow!
