I had a really good early morning bike ride yesterday. I’ve been taking the same route around my neighborhood and the surrounding bike trails lately because I like to compare my stats from one ride to the next. Also, this particular route I worked out is very scenic; it takes me past lakes, golf courses, a large park, rural areas with horses and cows, residential streets and through a couple shady wooded areas. It’s not a very long ride, just 8 miles, but there are plenty of fairly steep hills and I try to really push the pace. Yesterday the wind was against me through much of the ride, so I was especially pleased to see that I completed the ride with my best average speed of 18.1 miles per hour.
The weather is still really nice, and even though I’m weight training later today I think I’m going to get another ride in this morning. It’s pretty cool when you actually look forward to cardio! Taking up biking has turned out to be one of the best fitness-related choices I’ve made over the past seven years… well, excluding the whole faceplant thing in January. 🙂
I stepped on the scale this morning, mainly just curious to see if that water weight was gone. I suspected that it was, as I felt far less bloated. Sure enough, my weight was dead on the same as it was the day I finished my cut. I feel very good about being able to maintain my present body fat levels over the summer.
I’m going to get that bike ride in before it gets too hot. Train hard!
