Figured up the nutrition facts for last night’s cheat meal, and it’s shocking.

What a week it’s been! Last night the last thing in the world I felt like doing was cooking, so I decided to have my weekly cheat meal. I didn’t really feel like going out, so Lisa stopped on her way home from work and picked up barbecue from our favorite place. I had my usual, the pulled pork dinner. This meal consists of pulled pork, a double order of french fries, baked beans, garlic bread and 6 tablespoons of hot barbecue sauce. I’ve had this meal many times, but I’ve never bothered to look up the nutrition data until this morning. Um, wow. I created a custom food entry on BodyShop that includes the entire meal, and I about fell over when I saw the totals. Just look at this BodyShop screenshot from yesterday’s food log:

Now that's a cheat meal!

Now that

There’s nothing wrong with a splurge meal like that now and again, but a lot of people eat that kind of crap every day! It’s easy to see why so many people are overweight when their diets consists primarily of fast food. I still can’t believe the numbers in that one meal. That’s definitely not something I’ll want to have more than once a month (don’t quote me on that!)

With over 3,000mg of sodium in that meal, it’s no surprise that I’m holding a couple pounds of water this morning. I’m going to wrap this up and go for a long, sweaty bike ride!
