Knowing I’ll be able to return to my upper body workouts next week has put me in a really good mood. I think in the back of my mind I was expecting to hear that I could not lift for a couple months, and it was definitely affecting my disposition. I have not done an upper body workout in 3 weeks, so it will be interesting to see how much strength I’ve lost. I feel like I’ve lost some muscle. My scale weight is actually down to 174.8, which is a few pounds less than what I ended my cut at. I know I have not lost any more body fat, and my arms and chest are both down a 1/4 inch (even though it’s not my “official” day to measure I just checked). I’m sure once I get back in the swing of things I’ll put on a little size. The good news is the time off really seems to have helped my wrist; it’s not felt this pain-free in months! The time off combined with the anti-inflammatory my doctor prescribed should allow me to train without wrist pain for the first time in ages.

Grilled Burgers with Bacon and Caramelized Onions

Grilled Burgers with Bacon and Caramelized Onions

Last night I was in the mood to cook, and burgers sounded good. I wanted to try something new, so I came up with something that came out fantastic: Grilled burgers with applewood smoked bacon and caramelized onions. This is a splurge meal, but it’s not too bad: the burger weighed in at around 600 calories, bacon and cheese included. Here’s the recipe.

By the way, you may notice I have white American cheese in the picture. Unfortunately that was all I had in the fridge. The burger was still incredibly good, but it really cries out for sharp cheddar, so that’s what I put in the posted recipe. Next time I make it I’ll definitely make sure I have cheddar on-hand.

I’m dying to get out on the bike, so I’m going to wrap this up and go for a long ride. Have a great Saturday!
