Summer maintenance progress report; I got an awesome new kitchen scale.

I’m a little more than six weeks in to my summer maintenance program, and so far I’m really happy with how things have been going. I took my weekly measurements, scale weight and body fat reading this morning: my body fat reading is still 7.1%, my scale weight is 175.8 and my waist, hips and upper leg measurements are all identical to what they were at the end of my 2010 cutting program. I’ve lost a quarter inch from my chest and arms, but that’s because I have not been able to train upper body for almost a month. Not being able to train my upper body has been frustrating, but tomorrow I can resume lifting!

I’m actually surprised that I have not added any fat since my cut ended. My diet has been pretty clean during the week, but during the weekends I’ve been eating a very relaxed diet. On most weekends I’ve been eating movie theater popcorn a couple times, having two or three splurge meals and consuming some alcohol. What’s even better is that all the new healthy recipes I’ve been trying lately are so good that they taste like cheat meals! After 17 weeks of strict dieting, I can’t tell you how much I’ve been enjoying the summer so far. I’m really glad I decided to be 100% strict on my cut and just get it over with as quickly as possible. It was so worth it.

The other day I mentioned that I bought a new bathroom scale, and am extremely pleased with it. Well, the other day my kitchen scale died, and I had to buy a replacement. I went with the Ozeri Ultra Thin Professional Digital Kitchen Food and Nutrition Scale. This turned out to be another excellent buy! The scale looks great, is very thin, has a large easy to read digital display, weighs in pounds, kilograms, grams and ounces, has the absolutely essential “tare” functionality and is 100% accurate. Best of all it’s on sale for 25 bucks (normally $59.99). If you’re looking for a great kitchen scale at an excellent price, this is the one.
