Weekly stats; Great leg workout yesterday, but a couple minor injuries (pic).

I didn’t roll out of bed this morning until 7:00 AM, which is practically unheard of for me! Normally I’m up by 6:00 AM, 6:30 at the absolute latest. I guess I needed a little extra sleep, which I guess makes sense after yesterday’s leg workout (more on that in a minute).

I took a complete set of measurements, my scale weight and my body fat reading this morning. My scale weight and body fat percentage are 100% identical to last week’s numbers, and all my measurements are also almost identical. I did show a little size increase in my chest and quads, but not quite a quarter inch. I’m happy with this, as my diet over the weekend was very sloppy. It’s amazing how much leeway I have with my diet now that I’ve stopped drinking.

Yesterday’s leg workout was probably my best leg workout of the year. I knew it was going to be very difficult, but I was ready for the challenge. I increased the weight on all exercises and still managed to get my target reps in – with one exception. During my final set of 20 dumbbell lunges (remember, I’m doing these after 3×20 each leg extensions, lying leg curls and barbell squats) my legs were shaking so badly that I probably looked like I was having a seizure. At rep 17 my legs simply gave out and I fell to the side – hard. I don’t know why, but I didn’t release the dumbbells and just held on to them as I hit the floor. I scraped my right wrist on the way down, and this morning it feels more like a burn than a scrape.

Thankfully I didn’t use my wrist to brace myself (like I said, I never let go of the dumbbells), so my injured wrist is no worse off.

I’m not sure if this is a result of the fall or what, but my sciatic nerve in the lower right side of my back is hurting this morning. Actually, I may have aggravated it while I was struggling to get those lunges in, my form may have slipped a bit. Sigh. Anyway, I’m feeling a little beat up this morning but very happy with the effort I put in yesterday.

Today’s a cardio day, and I’m going to go tear up the vacant land across the street a bit before work. See you all tomorrow!
