Feeling motivated this morning – bring on the heat!; Some pond lighting installed.

Much to my surprise, I woke up this morning feeling exceptionally motivated. I’m not sure why that is, actually. With all my free time over the past two weeks spent performing manual labor under the unrelenting Florida sun, I thought for sure that I’d want to hole up in my dark, pleasantly chilly home theater for the day. Looks like that’s not going to happen, because the last thing I feel like doing right now is sitting around on my butt. This might be a good day to start working on finishing up the pond’s waterfall. The problem is I only have 4 concrete blocks left and I’m out of excavated dirt. I can only fit like 6 of the concrete blocks in the trunk of my car, so I’m going to have to wait for Lisa to get home from work to go get what I need – probably another 12 blocks or so. At least I can get started with the 4 blocks I have and, hopefully, at least come up with a solid plan. The other issue is dirt, or lack of it. I think the solution there is to mark off the planting beds for the tropical landscape that will eventually surround the pond, and start digging. I’m going to have to remove a lot of sod – so much that I should probably rent a sod cutter. Nah, I’ll just look at the sod removal as a workout and save the money! 🙂

Pathway Lighting

Pathway Lighting

Yesterday I was poking around in my garage and came across 10 solar pathway light fixtures that I purchased back in 2005 when we landscaped our old house. I wound up doing a pretty comprehensive low voltage landscape lighting project, and so the solar lights were never used. I held on to the fixtures just in case an application for their use ever presented itself, and sure enough – more than five years later – one did! Yesterday I placed the lights along the path to the pond, and I’m very happy with the effect. Here’s a picture from last night just after sunset:

I’m going to eat breakfast and start digging. I hope you have a fun Saturday!
