I can’t seem to gain fat (not complaining); Another big functional workout day.

I had a really good workout yesterday afternoon, and for post workout meal #2 I had a delicious plate of pulled pork barbecue, ribs, french fries, baked beans and garlic bread! It’s been awhile since I’ve had what is probably my favorite splurge meal, so I enjoyed every last bite. The ribs were exceptionally good, too.

Despite the heavy meal before bed, I slept great and I’m still down 2 pounds! I’m pretty sure that’s the first time I’ve had a meal like that and not gained any water weight. I’ve been so active this summer that I seem to be able to eat whatever the heck I want and not gain any fat. Working out, riding my bike, doing physically demanding outdoor work and eating healthy most of the time has allowed me to enjoy nearly 100% freedom to indulge when I feel like it. I’ve had splurge meals a few time per week, I eat theater popcorn when I watch a movie and I’ve had home made ice cream quite a few times (in fact, I’m making some today!) The past few months have been a blast, and I’m still way below my goal of emerging from the summer at less than 10% body fat! I feel like I’m really starting to get a handle on the whole balance thing; for an “all-or-nothing” guy like me, that a pretty significant accomplishment.

Last night I talked to my landscape designer/radio show host friend, and he’s on-board to do the landscape design around the pond! He’s a very busy guy, so I’m really happy we’re going to be working on this project together. I told him we’re looking for a very very lush, non-structured tropical feel. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with. I’m sure he’s going to create something wonderful!

So, guess what I’ll be doing today? Yep – digging up all that sod. I could rent a sod cutter, but I’m not going to. All I need is a shovel, a pair of gloves and about 3 gallons of water! Should be a great workout.

The tadpoles are doing great, by the way. I’ll leave you with a video of them that I shot yesterday morning. I’m sure at least three of you will watch it. 😆
