I had a fantastic labor day weekend! I got all my yard work and chores out of the way early, and was able to relax the rest of the time. I cooked out on the grill Sunday night, and yesterday we all went out for Mexican food. I’ve been craving fajitas for a long time, and they did not disappoint!

With all the cardio in the form of outdoor projects that I’ve been doing over the past month, I’ve not taken my bike out much lately. This morning I’m going to take my bike off-road and get a good ride in before work. The vacant land across the street from my house has become so overgrown with weeds over the past month (it’s the growing season) that I’m not sure how much success I’ll have over there, but I’m going to try. Some of the places I usually ride through have weeds that are taller than I am! One of my neighbors has spotted a Coral snake at least twice over there, so if it’s too overgrown I may fall back to plan B and go ride the golf course hills.

I’ve been wearing shorts most of the summer, but yesterday when we went out to eat I decided to see how my size 29″ waist jeans fit after an entire summer of enjoying a fairly relaxed diet. Not only did they fit, they felt looser than I remembered. Even after stuffing myself at the restaurant the jeans were not at all snug in the waist! I still can’t believe that I didn’t add any fat this summer because I certainly enjoyed my fair share of splurge meals and snacks. I guess that my existing muscle combined with staying very physically active and hitting the weights hard all summer long has afforded me this dietary freedom. Now that the summer is over I’m going to tighten my diet up a bit. Nothing too extreme, but I’d like to return to trying healthy new recipes a few times per week instead of having a couple very heavy junk food meals each week. I’ll be sure to post pictures and recipes of the good stuff.

I’d better hit the trails – lots of work to do today!
