I did a quick inventory of the Meloxicam anti-inflammatory pills that my doctor prescribed for my wrist pain, and I have about a two month supply remaining. I forgot that Lisa had about 30 leftover Meloxicams that her doctor prescribed for a pulled back muscle, so I took those first.

My wrist pain is still completely gone. Yesterday I did my chest/delts/triceps workout and nothing bothered me – not even dumbbell laterals! I didn’t even need to wear my hard wrist brace for the DB laterals, which is a first. I still soft-wrap my wrists, of course. The soft wraps just seem to provide a little extra stability, and I like how they feel. Anyway, I’m starting to feel fairly optimistic that my wrist is finally healing. If I can get through this without needing surgery that’s going to be a huge relief.

Speaking of nagging injuries, regular visitors to this site almost certainly know about my shoulder troubles. Back in the early days of my transformation my bad right shoulder (diagnosed as Chronic Tendinitis with Impingement Syndrome) caused me all kinds of problems. I had x-rays, MRIs, physical therapy and was unable to do any upper body work for many months. My shoulder rarely bothers me at all any more, and I think there are several reasons for that: my form is much better now than when I first started lifting, I’ve done a lot of rotator cuff strengthening exercises over the years (and continue to do so) and I stopped doing push ups. Even when my shoulder was hurt and I could not lift I continued to do push ups because I (rather stupidly) believed that they were not aggravating my injury. Looking back, I feel that push ups were perhaps one of the biggest contributing factors to my shoulder problems. A week or so ago I tried doing some push ups for the first time in years; for the next couple of days my right shoulder hurt like it used to back in the day. Just something to keep in mind if you’re having shoulder problems and doing deep push ups.

Today’s supposed to be a cardio day, but I think I’m going to skip my cardio and do my usual Friday workout (back/traps/biceps). The reason is because tomorrow afternoon the landscaping around the pond is going in, and I want to be available to oversee the operation. I don’t want any severed sprinkler pipes or toad houses kicked over!

I’m loving the short week – it sure doesn’t feel like Thursday! Bring on the weekend…
