After Friday morning’s back workout followed a few hours later by a 20-mile mountain bike ride, I decided to take yesterday off to recharge. It was a fun day, but I still felt the strong urge to go riding again. This morning we’ve got another cold front coming in, and it’s pretty cloudy outside. Actually it just started raining. Oh well, the clouds should clear up in a few hours as the front pushes through. The rain should help with the sugar sand, too. I’m definitely going riding today, but I’m not sure where yet. I have a few chores to do around the house this morning, so it’s going to be a late morning/early afternoon ride.

My brother lives in Austin, TX and is also a bike rider. Up until recently he rode a Trek hybrid, and did most of his riding on the road. Recently he picked up a sweet Specialized Stumpjumper on craigslist, and has been bitten hard by the mountain bike bug. I’m pretty jealous because he has several amazing trails right around his house. One of his favorites is Walnut Creek. It looks like a blast with plenty of action for all skill levels! Watching the videos and hearing my bro talk about it makes me want to throw my bike in the car and drive to Austin for a visit.

Probably the best trail system around me (and some say in all of Florida) is Santos. That place is absolutely massive: miles and miles of singletrack (everything from bunny trails to super technical advanced trails), freeride areas, dirt jumps, pump tracks, skills areas and more – all spread over more than 80,000 acres. It’s only about 70 miles from me, but I’ve never been there before. It’s so huge that you could spend a week there and not ride everything. I’m thinking about going up there for a long weekend sometime.

I’m going to get my project done so I can hit the trails. I hope you all have a fantastic Sunday!
