I’m certainly going to have my work cut out for me when I start cutting in January. My mom is coming for a week-long visit in mid-march, and there’s no way I’m going to diet during that week. I’d really like to have my cut done by the time my mom arrives, but 10 weeks is going to be pushing it. I’ve not taken my measurements or body fat reading in at least two months, but I can tell that I’ve added a fair amount of fat during that time. Even though I’ve been doing a lot of biking, my diet has been very sloppy. My weight this morning is 195 pounds, and if I had to take a guess I’d put my body fat at 14%. Actually, you know what? Let me take a quick waist measurement. I’ve been doing this long enough that I can get a pretty good quick read on my body fat just from a waist measurement. BRB…

Ugh. My waist is currently 33.75 inches. Yep, that’s about what my waist always measures when I’m right at 14% body fat. I weigh 195 pounds right now, so that’s 27.3 pounds of fat. My goal is 7% body fat, so that’s doable in 10 weeks if I keep my diet tight (I will), train hard (I will) and don’t encounter any major stalls. If I’m at 8% body fat at mid-March then I’ll probably call the cut over. The 7% goal was sort of arbitrary anyway. Still, I’m going to shoot for 7%. This should be a pretty fast-paced, aggressive and interesting cut. I’m going to have to work my butt off!

If you missed yesterday’s update concerning JSF BodyShop, please go give it a quick read. First, thanks to all the developers who contacted me yesterday – I heard from eight of you! I didn’t expect such a big response. Honestly, I don’t know if I’m going to keep the BodyShop doors open. I want to see some more feedback from the users and consider my options. I appreciate everyone who’s taken the time to post their thoughts and/or email me. Keep the comments coming, and please don’t hold back. I want your honest opinions. See below for the comment thread…

More than 1,600 of you have BodyShop accounts, but the number of users who regularly use the site is a small fraction of that. If you tried BodyShop and didn’t like it, I’d really like to know why. Did you find the site slow? Buggy? Ugly? Unintuitive? Difficult to use? Something else? Please be blunt with your comments. “The site sucks” won’t help me much, so brief details explaining why you don’t like the site would be appreciated. I’ve started a feedback thread, and I’d really appreciate it of you’d take a couple of minutes to post your thoughts.
