Eight year anniversary of the start of my transformation (with video).

On this day eight years ago (January 6, 2003) I decided to “lose some weight”. I came up with the idea to take daily pictures of my progress and post them each day on a very basic early version of this web site. I made a lot of mistakes, but I never gave up. For example, I didn’t consume enough calories, I trained while fasted, I lost muscle, I tied dumbbells to a cheap cement-filled weight set because I needed more resistance… and who could forget the bleached hair, over-the-top tan and horrible boxers?

Here’s my 1 year transformation animation. Remember this?

A lot has changed over the past eight years: I’ve added lots of muscle, gained fat, lost fat, experimented with different dieting techniques and dieted down to 6% body fat while working with trainers like Mastover. My fitness goals and interests have changed many times, but one thing that has never changed is my love for working out and eating right. Every day I wake up and think about my health and fitness, and how important those things are to the rest of my life.

I’m looking forward to the next eight years! Thanks to all of you who have shared in my journey. Congratulations to those who have also changed your lives through fitness. Those of you who want to make a change… well, what are you waiting for? I did it, and so can you!

If you missed Monday’s blog and are interested in what I’ll be doing to reach my goal of 7% body fat and how I am going to get in the best cardio shape of my life, go give it a quick read.
