Yesterday was my highest volume workout of the week: chest, delts and triceps. I really love the workout I’m doing right now, but the weight is getting up there and I knew I was going to have to dig deep to best last week’s performance. I added weight to every exercise and still hit my target reps!

This Friday’s workout, if successful (and I know it will be), will mark 5 straight weeks of incredible workouts. Not merely “good” workouts, incredible workouts. I’ve gone on runs like this before in the past, but I’m not sure I’ve ever done it while cutting. Some of the weights I’m throwing around right now are in the neighborhood of what I was lifting mid-way through my 2008 bulk. Except now I’ve been in a caloric deficit for almost five weeks and my strength continues to improve.

So much of it is mental. I know in my heart that everything I’m doing both inside and outside the gym is as optimal as I can make it, and that knowledge translates into confidence.

I added a couple new pictures to my 2011 Training Photos album. I may not be as big as used to be, but so far I feel like I’ve done a good job of dropping weight, increasing my muscle endurance, improving my strength and adding power without turning into a toothpick. At least not yet: at ~13% body fat I still have a way to go before I hit my goal of 7% body fat! 🙂

There are over eight years of daily blogs archived on this site, and that’s a lot of data to sift through. The new Browse Blog Archives page and the search bar are great features that can help you dig up some of the older stuff that you may find useful and/or interesting. Still, I thought that in addition to those tools it would be cool to add a widget to the sidebar that randomly selects 3 past blogs from the thousands contained in the database.
