Some of our Spring 2011 Flowers

Some of our Spring 2011 Flowers

Yesterday was certainly a very active day. I managed to get a huge amount of pressure washing done along with a few other smaller projects. I also got my back/traps/biceps workout in early and finished up my day job about 2:00 PM.

Lisa got home about the time I was finishing up with work, and so we decided to go to Home Depot and Lowes to pick up our annuals (we went with petunias and African marigolds this year) and a few other things. We were pleasantly surprised to see that Lowes actually had water plants, so we picked up some water lilies (Sioux, Sulphurea and Attraction), Black Gamecock (Louisiana Iris), Typha Minima (mini-cattail), Iris Kaempferi (Japanese Iris) and Pontedera Cordata (Pickerelweed) for the pond. We also got some Geraniums for the porch and driveway planters, an Oleander to replace the Hibiscus that froze to death this past winter, a couple of firecracker plants to replace an Allamanda that also died over the winter and some fresh basil (we use so much basil that growing our own saves a lot of money).

Getting to the home improvement stores yesterday afternoon instead of today was probably a wise choice. I have a feeling that today both of those places are going to be absolutely packed with shoppers. Spring is definitely here, and pretty much every homeowner in the area is going to be working in the yard today.

So today’s cardio is going to be planting, fertilizing and working around the house. It’s going to be a very long day, so I’m going to wrap this up and get started. I’ll be back tomorrow with my weekly cutting progress report. Have a fantastic Saturday!
