Vacation winding down; Pond landscaping maintenance this morning.

These are the last two days of my vacation (this week just flew by, of course), and the weather is amazing! I was going to go for a bike ride this morning, but I want to hang out with Lisa. Besides, I’m more in the mood to work in the gardens around the pond. I’ll probably do an indoor HIIT cardio session later this afternoon instead.

Pond landscaping is recovering well from the winter

Pond landscaping is recovering well from the winter

After all the hard work I put into creating the pond in our backyard last summer, it was heartbreaking to see everything turn to ice during this past winter, which was unusually cold. Actually, I think I’m going to have to stop using the term “unusually cold”: I’ve lived in Central Florida for more than 20 years, and the past three winters have all been worse than any I’ve seen here. I guess these harsh winters (geographically speaking, of course) are no longer that usual.

Anyway, it’s so nice to see all the plants, palms, shrubs and flowers coming back. We lost surprisingly few plants as a results of this past winter’s multiple hard freezes, and that’s obviously a huge relief. Sitting out there in this gorgeous weather we’re having right now makes all the work I put into the pond during the dog days of summer well worth it. I just love being out there.

I pleased to report that I stuck to my cutting diet 100% during my entire vacation. There were some temptations, but for the most part it wasn’t too difficult. I’ll be back tomorrow morning with my usual weekly cutting progress report.

Enjoy your day!
