Record heat yesterday kept me indoors; Ready to get back in the gym!

What happened to spring?

What happened to spring?

It looks like we pretty much skipped right over the spring season here in Orlando. Yesterday afternoon I thought about going for a bike ride for my cardio, but when I stepped outside the heat was absolutely unbearable. Turns out we hit a record high of 95 degrees (F), with a “feels like” temperature of something like 150 billion. The humidity was off the charts, too. Sometimes I can handle that kind of heat, but I just was not in the mood for it yesterday. So I retreated like a coward to the cool confines of my home gym and did 45-minutes of medium-high intensity cardio. I may have wussed out on braving the heat, but at least I didn’t back down on the effort: 45 minutes with an average heart rate of 176 BPM and a maximum HR of 193 BPM.

I’m really enjoying my week off from weight training, but I’m more than ready to get back in the gym and hit it hard. Whenever I take a week off from training and I read about other people’s workouts on the JSF Forums or Facebook, it always stokes my desire to train. In fact, I really feel like lifting right now, but I’m going to hold off and finish up my week off. I have a feeling Monday’s workout is going to be awesome.

It’s actually pretty cool outside right now, so I think I’m going to go for a bike ride this morning before work. I really enjoyed Tuesday’s combined bike ride and photography excursion to the lake, so I might do something like that again.

Happy Friday!
