The six tomato plants we planted in our Topsy Turvy Tomato Tree Stand back in March are doing amazingly well! We started harvesting the tomatoes this past weekend and they are absolutely delicious! What’s especially nice is that all the tomatoes are at different stages of development, so we should have a constant supply over the next month or two. It’s very satisfying to eat vegetables, fruits and herbs that you’ve grown yourself. If you’ve got a little space on your back patio or terrace, I highly recommend you give growing your own herbs and vegetables a try. Just choose things that you enjoy eating the most (and that will grow well in your particular climate, of course!) I should point out that tomatoes do require a lot of TLC… and by “TLC” I mean water. In my climate the tomatoes require daily watering to do well.

I forgot to mention this yesterday, but I did my leg workout on Tuesday (I skipped my usual Monday leg workout to go mountain biking). The workout was considerably better than my leg workout from last week. I also had a very good chest/delts/triceps workout yesterday afternoon. 🙂

This morning I’m going to head out with my camera and do some biking. I’d love to go over to Wekiwa Springs again, but I’m still suffering from countless spider, ant, mosquito and tick bites from Monday’s 31-mile adventure. There’s no way I’m going back into that forest without plenty of DEET, so for today’s ride I’m going to stick around the neighborhood. Lisa is going to pick some up DEET for me when she goes grocery shopping tomorrow, so I should be ready to get back out on the trails this weekend.

I’ve never seen the mosquitoes as bad as they are right now, particularly deep in the forest. When I was out mountain biking on Monday if I stopped for more than a few seconds I was swarmed by so many mosquitoes that I could scarcely believe my eyes. The first time it happened I actually thought that I was in the middle of a nest, but every time I stopped it was the same. Florida is not all sunshine and ripe tomatoes. 🙂
