Yesterday I (finally) added the awesome Timex Ironman to My Favorite Things. You can check out my thoughts and the review here. I don’t think a day has gone by since I purchased the Ironman that I have not used it. It’s a fantastic piece of fitness equipment for the price. If you don’t have a heart rate monitor then I urge you to invest the 60 bucks; it’s money very well spent if you care about your health.
My arm is still on fire from the multiple wasp stings I suffered a couple of days ago. I’ve been putting anti-itch cream on the stings and that helps somewhat, but the area is red, swollen and itchy. It’s a little better this morning, but still highly irritating. I saw three new wasps trying to start a nest in the same spot yesterday. When I sprayed them two of them fell, but one of them made a direct run right at my face. It happened so fast all I could do was back away spraying wildly in front of me. Thankfully one of my shots connected and the wasp broke off his attack. Another sting would probably be pretty bad so soon after the other stings (I think the poison has a sort of cumulative effect).
I was going to go for a bike ride yesterday, but by the time I was able to break away from work the heat outside was pretty bad. Usually I’m OK with the heat, but for some reason yesterday I was just not in the mood to deal with it. I decided instead to do my back workout, and it was a very good one.
On a related note, a few week ago I tried doing some lighter deadlifts, but my lower back pain flared up again. Since then I’ve avoid deads completely and I’ve had zero issues with my back–and I’ve been putting in more than 50 miles per week out on the trails. I’m sorry to say it, but my deadlifting days may be over. I love deadlifts, but not as much as I love riding pain-free.
Well, because I did my usual Friday workout yesterday that clears the way for a bike ride this morning. It’s heating up fast outside, so I’d better get going. Happy Friday!
