My transformation to full-on redneck is complete!

My transformation to full-on redneck is complete!

Well, as you can see I really liked the truck I test drove yesterday. 🙂 I was able to work out a fantastic deal with the dealership, and drove it home last night. The damn thing barely fits in my garage! I took this quick snapshot this morning, and even wore my camo cap for good southern measure.

I really do love the truck. I’ve been wanting one for a long time, and so it’s a pretty cool feeling to know I can load up my own mulch and stuff like that and save the massive delivery charges that I’ve always had to pay in the past. I’m also really going to enjoy going to the hardware store and not having to constantly think, “Will this fit?”

I’ve received a couple of negative comments from people who feel trucks like these are wasteful and harmful to the environment. Some of the comments were were clearly trollish and obviously not made by people who were interested in actually having a rational discussion. Rather than feed the trolls, I’ll simply point out that we have another (small) car that is used for the vast majority of our running around. I’ll use this truck when it’s needed. I’d also like to point out that I work from home, so I don’t care how “green” your car is, I’m burning far less fuel than you are every day (if you bike to work then good job!) My 2006 Mercedes Benz has 12,000 miles on it. Obviously I’m not a big driver. I walk and bike whenever possible. Anyone who knows me knows how much I care about the environment, animals, plants and the ecosystem. I try to do my part to conserve our natural resources as much as I can. I even go out of my way to pick up trash when I see it, especially when I’m out on the trails. The problem with a lot of these so-called “green” hipsters is that they are a bunch of self-righteous hypocrites. They can kiss my ass.

The dealership, as always, did a terrible job of detailing the truck. I’m going to get outside and make this thing gleam. 🙂

EDIT: I put some pictures of the fully detailed truck in my photography journal if you’re interested.

  1. People really gave you grief for buying a truck for the primary purpose being to haul stuff?

What business is it of theirs, anyway?

Enjoy your truck. Sounds like a good fit for you.

    • One guy posted here yesterday and was one of the least skilled trolls I’ve seen in a while. He even managed to ask me if Lisa and I were planning to have kids in the exact same comment that blasted me for wasting “money and gas”. When I deleted his comment, he came back later and called me a coward for not taking his bait.
