I’m going to have to make today’s blog brief because Loki has an early appointment with the vet. This is just his regular geriatric exam, which he has every six months.

I found Loki running around where I used to work 15 years ago almost to the day. We put up signs, but I knew he was a stray and no one would claim him. So I took him home and he’s been part of the family every since. 🙂

I figure Loki was about 9 or 10 months old when I found him, so that means he’s about to celebrate his 16th birthday! Of course we have no way of knowing his real birthday, so we just call it January 1, 1996. For a large dog like Loki, 16 years is very old. He still runs and plays, goes up and down the stairs and has good vision and eyesight.

He has to be fasted for the blood work, so he’s going absolutely nuts right now because he’s not had his usual breakfast. Thankfully as soon as the vet gets the blood sample she showers Loki with treats.

They say 1 dog year is equivalent to 7 human years, which means Loki is 112 in human years. What an inspiration! 😉

I’ve got to run, happy Friday!
