Thursday, January 17, 2019 - Welcome, guest user!

Still can’t exercise; Our fruit trees are exploding with blossoms! The Valencia Orange tree is covered in fragrant blossoms; In the background you can see the Ponderosa Lemon tree, which has some fruit almost ready for picking along with dozens and dozens of new blossoms. The butterfly garden is in the far background.

Well, thanks to my bruised rib cage I don’t have any new fitness-related subjects to talk about this morning. I’m going crazy sitting around, but even mild exercise is painful. Yesterday afternoon I tried some light bench presses (it was supposed to be my chest/delts/triceps workout), and it felt like someone was sticking a hot knife in my side. So this morning I’ll talk about stress relief and fruit trees. πŸ™‚ I’m very excited because… [Read more]

My ribs are not broken; Awesome AtLarge Nitrean/Nitrean+ deal!

Yesterday shortly after posting my blog I changed my mind about waiting to go to the doctor about my rib injury. The pain was pretty bad, and I felt like I was coughing more than usual so I figured it would be best to just go and find out for sure what was going on in there. During the examination the doctor poked and prodded the injured area, and listened to my breathing. After the… [Read more]

On the injured list for now. Well, I hope not.

As the day wore on yesterday the pain in my ribs became increasingly noticeable. Despite the annoying pain, I decided that I should at least make an attempt at my leg workout. Unfortunately I found every exercise I tried caused the pain in my ribs to go from moderate to excruciating. After 15 minutes of trying various exercises and different weights, I realized that getting a leg workout in just wasn’t going to happen. πŸ™… [Read more]

Group ride at Chuck Lennon yesterday; Wrecked, think I cracked a rib (video). Bike on a Trail for November 6, 2011: Chuck Lennon MTB Trails

Yesterday morning I decided to head over Chuck Lennon state park in De Leon Springs for a planned group ride. When I rode here for the first time a couple of weeks ago I made the comment that of all the trails I’ve ridden, those at Chuck Lennon were my favorite. Obviously I jumped at the chance to get back out there and also meet some new riders. There were five us in the main… [Read more]

2011 maintenance weekly progress report: week #30 EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale

Week #30 of my 2011 maintenance program is complete, and it’s time for my weekly progress report. My goal is to complete 2011 without ever rising above 10% body fat. Note that I was on vacation the past two Sundays, and I did not take my usual weekly stats while I was off. I’ll be comparing this morning’s stats to week #27 (3 weeks ago). My scale weight this morning (as measured by the )… [Read more]

Weight training and supplements for my upcoming cut. This is my favorite room in the house.

While I’m cutting I’m not going to change my current weight training program much at all. I’ll be doing a three day split, as follows: Monday: Legs Wednesday: Chest/Delts/Triceps Friday: Back/Biceps Almost all of the exercises I’ll be doing will be compound exercises, some of which will be Olympic lifts. I will be doing practically no isolation exercises. I’ll be doing a mix of moderate weight/high rep training and very heavy/low rep work. As for… [Read more]

Rode fun new trail yesterday: Snowhill / Little Big Econ (video) Bike on a Trail for November 3, 2011. Challenging ridge riding in some places. That creek is about 15-20 feet down.

I’d planned to ride at Little Big Econ State Park (also known as “Snowhill”) while I was on vacation, but I was not able to make it over there. As a result of the cumulative hours I had to work while I was on vacation, yesterday I had a comp day off from work. I decided to make the 1 hour drive to Snowhill and check it out. I wound up doing a solid 22… [Read more]

Thoughts on my upcoming cut. Not that kind of cut.

I’ve been putting a lot of thought into my upcoming pre-spring cut, and this year I’m going to run my cutting phase differently than I have in years past. The first thing to note is that if I accomplish my 2011 goal of maintaining less than 10% body fat then I won’t have a great deal of fat to cut. Right now I’m in the mid 8% body fat range, and so with less than… [Read more]

Another cranky hiker encounter (video); Trail poaching. Bike on a Trail for November 1, 2011.

Yesterday I did 20 miles out at Wekiwa, and it was wet and muddy out there. I didn’t take my DSLR, and I’m glad that I didn’t: by the time I finished my ride I was completely covered in mud and water. Also on the ride I ran into yet another pedestrian who was irritated because I was on “his” trail. I had my running, so I’ve got video of the encounter. I need to… [Read more]

November 2011 Transformation Spotlight: wisedude November 2011 Transformation Spotlight: wisedude

For the November 2011 Transformation Spotlight of the Month I’ve selected forum member “wisedude” (Alex). Alex’s transformation has taken place over several years, and mistakes were made along the way. Initially Alex dropped all the way down to 130 pounds (he’s almost 6 feet tall) because he wasn’t lifting or eating properly. Determined to correct his errors, Alex began to eat more (and healthier) and lift hard. This hard work paid off: Alex packed on… [Read more]
