About 6.5% body fat here. Quads and hamstrings are starting to cut up nicely. Notice the big bruise on my quad? That was from a hard mountain biking fall over the weekend onto some big, wet roots.

About 6.5% body fat here. Quads and hamstrings are starting to cut up nicely. Notice the big bruise on my quad? That was from a hard mountain biking fall over the weekend onto some big, wet roots.

Over the past week I’ve noticed dramatically increased cuts in my legs, arms and abs. The vascularity in my arms has also become significantly more pronounced as I’ve dropped into the 6% body fat range.

I snapped the picture to the right this morning. My low body fat level is allowing some of that hard work in the weight room to show through. Of course aesthetics are a distant second to the main reason I’m cutting fat right now, but I can’t deny that I like how I look when I’m ripped.

Speaking of aesthetics, until I saw this picture I’d forgotten about the hard fall I took over the weekend on some wet roots. I’m so used to being covered in various bruises, cuts and scrapes that I don’t think about that kind of stuff too much anymore. That big bruise showing on the middle/side of my quad is the most prominent injury in this picture, but I actually have about a half-dozen bruises all along my left leg and left glute. I guess I won’t be winning any hot legs contests as long as I’m a mountain biker. 🙂

Lisa’s flu spread to her chest, and she had me take her to the doctor yesterday afternoon. Turns out she now has bronchitis. Lisa’s dad, who picked Lisa up from the airport when she returned from Vegas, is also very ill. So are half of Lisa’s co-workers, who were at the week-long Vegas meeting.

Me? I can tell that I have whatever Lisa has, but it’s not really affecting me so far (knock wood!) I’ve had a very minor scratch in my throat and have been feeling slightly less than 100%, but overall I feel great and I have had some excellent weight and cardio workouts over the past week. There’s no doubt in my mind that the reason I’m shrugging this flu off is because of my 100% clean, all-natural diet, the fact that I have not consumed any alcohol in two months and my careful attention to making sure I’m getting enough rest each night. While I’m not impervious to illness, I’ve definitely done everything in my power to stack the deck to my advantage.

Of course now that I’ve said that I’ll probably get really sick. 😀

Anyway, I’m feeling great this morning and I can’t wait to train this afternoon!
