April 2012 Transformation Spotlight: FatLenny April 2012 Transformation Spotlight: FatLenny!

For the April 2012 Transformation Spotlight I’ve selected forum member “FatLenny” (Terry). At just 35 years old, Terry was morbidly obese, extremely unhealthy and facing what was certain to be a very short and unhealthy life. When Terry began his transformation he weighed in at a scale-busting 336 pounds. Now, just 1.5 years later, Terry has lost more than 125 pounds of fat, clearly added muscle and is a completely changed man. Now when Terry… [Read more]

Mini Sweet Peppers are awesome! Colorful, versitile and delicious: Sweet Mini Peppers!

A couple of weeks ago Lisa came home from the grocery store with a 2 pound bag of colorful Pero Family Farms Mini Sweet Peppers. These little peppers are sweet, crunchy, colorful, versatile and absolutely delicious! These little gems have breathed new life into quite a few of my old standby dishes. I’ll give you just a few examples… – I chop up about 10 of these peppers and toss them into my easy Chicken… [Read more]

More trail riding; I’m below 170 pounds and probably right at 5% body fat. It's called "Gravity Destroyer" on the way down, but I call it "Leg Destroyer" on the trip back up.

I’ve been mountain biking almost every day over the past two weeks, and I’m having a blast! I rode at Wekiwa on Tuesday, and on the 3 mile timed section I turned in a time of 13m07s. At first I was very disappointed that I didn’t break my existing personal record of 12m48s, but 13m07s is my second best time ever, and I definitely rode as hard as I could. Nothing to be ashamed of,… [Read more]

Time off from lifting; Aches and pains are gone; Freedom for sustainability. Don't put yourself in a diet and training prison!

Ten straight weeks of hard weight training with no breaks was very taxing on my body. Thankfully I completed my 2012 cut with no serious injuries, but I was definitely feeling pretty beat up by the time I completed my cut. I took last week off from weight training, and I’m taking this week off from training, too. I think a week off from weight training every 8 weeks or so is very beneficial, and… [Read more]

What I did on my spring break. Trail work day at the Mt. Dora MTB Trails!

The primary reason for my 2012 cut was to get light and strong for mountain biking. With my cut over, I decided to take last week off from everything so I could ride as much as I wanted. In addition to my very light scale weight, I was also excited about the significant modifications I’d made to my main trail bike. The stock Trek Fuel EX 8 is a fine bike, but she’s a whole… [Read more]

2012 maintenance plans.

With my highly successful 2012 cut over, it’s time to turn my attention towards maintenance. My maintenance plans for 2012 are going to be more or less the same as they were in 2011, with a couple of small twists. Before I get into my plans for 2012, I’d like to quickly go over where I am now. Even though I was on vacation and not blogging last week, I went ahead and posted the… [Read more]

2012 cut is over! Weekly progress report: Week #10. 171.6 pounds @ 5.7% body fat.. This is the lightest I've been since 2004, and the leanest I've ever been.

After evaluating my scale weight, body fat reading and tape measurements, I’ve decided that my 2012 cut is over! I’m ending the cut today because it’s definitely time, not because I don’t want to continue. The 100% honest truth is I’ve been enjoying this cut so much that I’m forcing myself to end it. I’m going to go through my usual weekly progress report, and then I’ll wrap things up with some additional comments and… [Read more]

Excellent workout yesterday; Garden weekend Part II! This is Frightful the squirrel. We got him his own feeder because he kept eating all the bird food!

I woke up at 4:30 AM yesterday, and was feeling a little tired all day long. I decided to train early, and I’m glad that I did… The workout started a little slow, but as I warmed up with increasingly heavy deadlifts I was feeling better and better. I added 10 pounds to last week’s weight, and set another new PR for my current body weight. I was super careful with my form, and I… [Read more]
