Monday, December 10, 2018 - Welcome, guest user!

Met my diet and training goals for the week!

I’m dying to go mountain biking this morning, but there’s nothing I can do about that. My rebuilt rear wheel is back in Orlando, but FedEx won’t be delivering it until Monday. Between the rain and my bike’s mechanical issues it’s been nearly two weeks since I’ve been mountain biking. 🙁 My post-vacation mini boot camp has gone very well this week. My goals this week did not specifically include fat loss, and so I… [Read more]

My thoughts on a few new hot sauces. Some of my favoite hot sauces.

One of the easiest ways to jazz up and change the flavors of the foods you eat on a regular basis is by using hot sauces. I love trying new hot sauces because they are inexpensive, add practically no calories and they taste great. Since my last blog about hot sauces I’ve discovered a few new ones that I wanted to tell you about. Some of my existing favorites are , , , , ,… [Read more]

Managed to destroy my American Classic rear wheel; Today’s leg workout. I get to tend the rabbits, George?

As I wrote in my first blog after returning from vacation (that blog is here), I bent the rear rim on my Fuel (photo of the damage). I must have landed one of my bunny hops too hard (I was on concrete at the time), as the damage was clearly a hard impact of some sort. After discussing the issue with American Classic (they even gave me a personal phone call in response to my… [Read more]

I really hate the phrase “Full body cardio workout”; Best cardio machine. My Schwinn 231 Recumbent Bike has been seeing a lot of action this week.

Tropical Storm Debbie (which has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression) has finally moved over the state, but we’re still getting plenty of rain and some pretty strong wind. It looks like today will be the final day my area will be affected by the storm. The weather report for tomorrow and Friday is not forecasting any rain! While we certainly needed the rain we’ve been getting over the past week or so, I’m looking… [Read more]

You can’t out train a poor diet; Post-vacation boot camp going well! It's OK: I hit the treadmill this morning!

By the time my vacation was over, I was feeling noticeably lethargic and less than 100%. When I say “less than 100%”, I don’t mean I was feeling sick, just… weak, I suppose. Part of the reason for that feeling is because I sat on my butt for a week, but I think the major reason was my sloppy diet. I don’t care what your goals are, diet is everything. A quote that I see… [Read more]

Vacation report; Post-vacation boot camp. I tried cleaning and lubing the rear shock before I replaced the seals, but no joy.

I’m back from my 9 day vacation. Man, that went fast! Things didn’t go quite the way I’d planned, but I made the best of it and had a great time while I was off. Maybe a little too great a time… I had a good mountain biking ride on Tuesday morning, but the seals on my rear shock were failing. When I set off on that ride my rear shock pressure was 175 PSI;… [Read more]

On vacation!

Today is my last day of work before I start my vacation! My time off runs from Saturday June 16th through Sunday, June 24th. While I’m on holiday there will be no updates to this blog. My regular daily blogs will resume on Monday, June 25th. When I get back I’ll have some new recipes to share, more fat loss tips, new motivational articles and I’ll be doing my full review on the (preview: it’s… [Read more]

Hot and brutal 20 mile mtb ride yesterday; Strava Suffer Score. There were quite a few ecological burn sites yesterday, many still smoldering.

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a mountain biking ride longer than 10-ish miles. Lately I’ve been in “pedal-to-the-metal ~10 mile sprint” mode, but yesterday I was in the mood for a longer ride. I knew it was going to be hot, so I filled up my with a full 100 ounces of water. I also took three packets of Sport Beans, which are my preferred electrolyte source. As it turns out, my… [Read more]

Some thoughts on why people fail at fat loss, or fail to keep it off. I don't care how old you are. Get out there and get in the game!

I decided to give my legs a break after Monday’s awesome ride and didn’t go mountain biking yesterday, but at the same time I wasn’t in the mood for a day off from exercise. I decided to go ahead and do my upper body workout, which I normally do on Friday. I went heavy, and this morning there’s a little twinge in my right shoulder, but it’s really not bad at all. I love that… [Read more]

Outstanding ride yesterday, and another personal record. One of the downed trees across the trail at Wekiwa.

Last Thursday when I rode at Wekiwa (and encountered a black bear!), I shaved 11 seconds off my personal best time on the first segment. Because I’ve been timing myself on that segment for such a long time, I was extremely happy with such a large improvement on my best time. Yesterday morning when I hit the trails I was feeling really good. It was hot and pretty humid, but I decided to see if… [Read more]
