Did something new on yesterday’s ride. Mt. Dora Trail Map.

I’ve been riding a lot at Mt. Dora lately, and I’m really starting to fall in love with the place. It may not be a long trail, but it’s well maintained, has some decent elevation changes and is super fun to ride. A new section of trail that leads down to the main loop was added earlier this year, and it’s called “Gravity Destroyer”. Gravity Destroyer is a bi-directional trail that is about a half… [Read more]

Took yesterday off; JSF tattoo The first JSF tattoo ever?

Yesterday I said I was going to either go riding or get some projects done outside. I did neither. I was feeling a little off yesterday morning: a slight sore throat (probably allergies), relatively weak and a little tired. Perhaps all of that was a result of the 5-6 hours I spent working outside in the sun on Saturday, I’m not sure. All I know is that yesterday morning when I stepped outside into the… [Read more]

Excellent workout yesterday; Yard work day. The heat and humidity may not be fun to mountain bike in, but the plants and animals love it!

I decided for yesterday’s upper body workout to do a very high intensity workout using moderate weights and high reps. The maximum rest interval between sets was 1 minute, and most of the time it was closer to 45 seconds. I also didn’t do any straight sets,: everything I did was a superset, drop set, giant set or “down the rack” set. I felt great in there. I’m sore this morning, and my muscles are… [Read more]

New “Favorite Things” item: The Halo Skull Cap; Yesterday’s ride. The amount of water the Halo holds defies physics.

I’ve always blindly (when you finish reading the rest of the sentence you’ll realize that was a hilarious pun) accepted that during physical activity sweat will get in my eyes and, when I’m outside, all over my sunglasses. Over the years I sort of became used to the uncomfortable feeling of sweat stinging my eyes and obscuring my vision during sports and outdoor activities. Recently I shaved my head. The first time I went mountain… [Read more]

No exercise yesterday; Skull cap is here, initial thoughts. The Wearing the Halo Protex skull cap. The ties allowed me to dial in the perfect fit.

I took yesterday off from physical activity. I had a lot of work going on, and when there was a lull the idea of a quick indoor HIIT cardio session didn’t sound very appealing. I was actually in the mood to ride, and I decided some skills work out front would be a good way to get some exercise in… that is until I opened the front door and felt as if I’d just walked… [Read more]

Couple new KOMs yesterday; Halo skull cap will be here today. Halo Protex skull cap with tie.

I had a brief, but intense, ride at the Mt. Dora MTB trails yesterday morning. It was pretty hot when I got to the trailhead, but the humidity was beyond belief. More on that in a minute. While I was unloading my bike, another rider emerged from the trails on a very nice bright green FS Niner. As we chatted, the guy (I think he said his name was Willie) pulled a Gary Fisher 29er… [Read more]

Stressful day yesterday: didn’t exercise, but ate clean. Fresh from the garden!

What a day yesterday was. Thankfully I got all those network problems taken care of by mid-day, and then was able to complete my usual workload without having to work too much later than usual. I really should have done some cardio on the recumbent bike after work, but I just didn’t feel like it. In fact, I was feeling so lazy that I was tempted to order pizza for dinner instead of cooking. Resisting… [Read more]

Woke up to a couple of major network problems. Must be Monday. Problem? /trollface

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a fantastic couple of days off celebrating Lisa’s birthday with Lisa and her parents! I woke up early this morning hoping to get a jump on my workload so that I could go mountain biking. Unfortunately the network gods have other plans for me: I woke up to two unrelated major network problems. I manged to resolve one of the issues, but the other problem remains…. [Read more]
